Palm Sunday 2013

Priest's introduction

Unite your suffering to Christ Crucified,
dear brothers and sisters,
and trust in the Lord,
so that we too might be raised up by his redeeming sacrifice.

Intentions

For the universal Church, that she might ever exalt in the name of her Lord, and run to greet him when he comes.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

[For this diocese of N., that the Lord might send us a holy bishop, to lead us from the path error, and into the way of eternal life.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.] *in dioceses sede vacante

For Elizabeth our Queen, and her ministers of state, that they might legislate in accordance to the divine and natural law, and that they might enforce justice with clemency.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For this parish, that we might remain faithful to our religious obligations, and we, in charity, might be given the grace of courage and perseverance to lead our wayward brethren back to the Good Shepherd.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For all catechumens and converts preparing to be received into the bosom of Mother Church during the sacred Paschal Triduum, that the prayers of the zealous and the innocent made on our behalf might be heard by the Lord.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For the sick of mind and body, and for those who will be unable by reason of infirmity to walk alongside their brethren during this holy week, that we might remember them in our prayers, and they might remember us as they walk along their own path to Calvary.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For the dead, that the Lord might remember the holy souls in his descent amongst them, and so raise them up to the eternal bliss of the beatific vision.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Priest's prayer

Untie us from the bonds of sin,
we beseech you, almighty God,
that we, so unencumbered by slavery to evil,
might minister to you in your sanctuary,
and do your bidding amidst its worldliness.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fifth Sunday of Lent 2013

Priest's introduction

Veiling our eyes to the Sacred Presence of God,
we deign, brothers and sisters,
to approach his Divine Majesty with our humble prayers.

Intentions

For our Holy Father, Pope Francis, that he may shepherd the flock of Christ with graciousness and love, and that, remaining faithful to the Sacred Tradition and Magisterium, he might show anew the Face of the Lord to the world.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

[For this diocese of N., that the Lord might send us a faithful and courageous bishop, who will lead us, with a firm yet loving care, into the Loving Truth of the Divine Life of the Blessed Trinity.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.] * in dioceses sede vacante

For the catechumens and converts to the Faith who will be baptised and received in the Sacred Paschal Season, that, cherishing their sacred Christian vocation, they might continually grow in love of the Lord and serve to teach their elder brothers and sisters in the Faith by the example of their zeal and conversion.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For civil society, and all the nations of peoples, that they might turn away from error, and recognise God's venerable hand in all creative acts, especially by marriage and childbearing, and by the fostering of a just and equitable opportunity and love for workers and unemployed persons.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For the victims of unjust laws and uncharitable persons, that they might be comforted by the love and compassion of God's holy people, and, by his grace, come to know that they are truly loved.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For the dead, that the Lord might have mercy on their souls, and lead them, through the Passion and Cross of the Lord Jesus, into the glory of his Resurrection.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

[Our Lady, our Mother Thrice Admirable, always hears the prayers of God's holy people; we, who were entrusted to her maternal care by Our Crucified Lord, turn to her and pray: Hail Mary] * in dioceses where the Ave Maria is permitted in this prayer

Priest's prayer

Almighty and merciful God,
mercifully hear the prayers of your people
and comfort them in their sorrows of mind and body,
that, through the intercession of Saints Joseph of Arimathea
and Mary Magdalen, disciples of the Lord,
and Saint Patrick, the holy bishop of Ireland,
we may, by your grace,
shun all that is evil,
and continually turn towards the Rising Sun.

Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Fourth Sunday of Lent 2013 (Laetare Sunday)

Priest's introduction

Rejoice, dear brothers and sisters,
that God has reconciled the human race to himself,
and so we ought pray to him unceasingly with increased faith and devotion,
during this sacred Lenten season.

Intentions

For the Universal Church, that the Holy Spirit may enlighten the intellects of the Cardinal Fathers, to ensure that the Divine Will may be accomplished in the election of the Supreme Pontiff.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

[For this diocese of N., that the Lord may grant us patience and fortitude until He sends us a bishop who may faithfully guide us into the way of Truth and Love.] *In dioceses sede vacante

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For persons who have abandoned God's love and their religious duties, that their hardness of heart may be softened, and be reconciled with the Lord.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For all mothers, that they might grow in understanding and thankfulness of their most sacred vocation, and always continue to cherish their maternity, a unique offering, in which the Lord God is ever-present.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For families that are broken, that Love might triumph, and courage be bestowed in abundance on those who seek reconciliation with one another.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

For the dead, especially deceased mothers, that the Lord might look with loving kindness on them, so that they might rejoice in the heavenly Jerusalem.

Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

[Our Lady, Mother of God and Mother of the Church, taught God's holy people the true value of humility, and left an eternal example of accepting the Lord God's Will for our lives. We, her spiritual children, fly to her maternal breast in prayer: Hail Mary.] *In places where the Ave Maria is permitted during this prayer

Priest's prayer

Almighty ever-living God,
who bring salvation to all creation
and desire that no one should perish
hear the prayers of your people,
and grant that,
through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
of Saint Anne, and Saint Helena,
the course of our fallen world
may be directed to your peaceful rule,
and your Church rejoice in tranquility and devotion.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
